so in 2007, there was a law passed that said if you have student loans
and you worked in public services & made student loan payments on time
for 10 years, you’d get loan forgiveness. fast forward to 2017, and guess what happens under this admin with Betsy Devos?out of 30,000 public service applicants, the Devos/Trump team only forgave the loans of 96 people. imagine 10 years ago deciding to work in public service with shitty pay to pay off loans the govt promised they would and then 99% of applications get rejected. thats absolutely despicable. wtf.
couldn’t post the links since this website is hell and won’t let it show up in searches anymore, but here’s the links. apparently there IS a class-action lawsuit going, and here’s a link to a petition being done by the same union who filed the lawsuit (it’s at the bottom). not sure how much it’s helpful but it’s worth a shot i guess
Fascism isn’t something to support, but at the same time don’t you find it a bit hypocritical to hate fascism but support communism? Especially when the death toll for communism is in the millions. Communism has always ended in suffering and still does today. What exactly are you promoting communism for and how is it any better than promoting fascism?
I know you’re likely gonna say I’m full of shit like liberals always do, but most of what people believe about communism being inherently evil and “always failing” because it’s an unworkable system, is based on capitalist propaganda, cherry-picking information to give people, and flat out lies. Think about it: who owns the school systems where people are educated on this? Who owns the news media where people hear all of their information about nations that are attempting socialism? Could it be that the people who control the information most people encounter regarding communism, are the same people who have very clear motivations for convincing everyone that capitalism is the only way regardless of what the truth is?
There have been crimes against humanity committed by “communist” dictators (communists define communism as a society with no state and no capital, so it’s not entirely accurate to call people like Stalin “communist” in the first place), but most death counts attributed simply to “communism” can also be attributed to wars waged to defend would-be-socialist states from capitalist/imperialist powers, and/or artificial shortages of resources caused by placing embargoes on said countries (like we’ve done to Cuba, Haiti, Venezuela, etc). Most of the examples of “communism failing” in said countries can be attributed to coups and psyops by the CIA in foreign countries that democratically elected socialists to power. I’m actually reading a book on this topic and posting quotes to this blog under the tag #killing hope, if you’re interested in reading some examples.
It’s just plain not true that “communism has always ended in suffering”. I’m not the kind of commie to go around making endless excuses for the so-called communist dictators that have existed and do exist, but even in the very few cases where these tragedies and abuses of power weren’t at least partway caused by capitalist powers extensive sabotage campaigns in the Cold war, it seems pretty ridiculous to say that communism is bad because some of these leaders and states (for example) caused starvation, while global capitalism causes billions in underdeveloped countries to starve on a regular basis.
The central tenet of communism is that everyone can, and should, be allowed to share equally in the resources the world has to offer. The central tenet of fascism is that only one nation-race of people should dominate everybody else. Socialists have contributed to so many liberation movements and socially progressive movements (civil rights, feminism, the Labor movement, antifa, etc), whereas fascists have only ever campaigned for death, destruction, and taking the rights of citizenship away from billions. The only reason people compare them is that neoliberals have been saying they’re both “extremes” for decades, in order to convince people that neoliberal capitalism is the only option. Don’t fall for it.
